Our pattern-loving minds yearn for the satisfaction of predictability. Patterns help us feel secure, as if to be part of a rational world which we can control. But mysteriously, we keep filling the gaps with as many new patterns as we possibly can. As a result we've shaped an environment that is so complicated that we struggle to fit in

As we rise, the morning air is cold and grey

See the darkness glow

As we rise, the morning birds are at play

Announcers of the dawn

As we rise, the atmosphere now changes hue

Too slow to notice

East from here, the sun is coming to renew

Now the sunlight touches the dew

And the wonder of day and night continues

That baffled the mind for all time

And the same sun that broke the horizon

Set structure to all before mine

The morning has arrived, the cycle is revived

As we rise, the sun exposes where we left off

Where we gave up yesterday

In the distance the roads are wailing under strain

As the masses make their way

If we rise, do we expect that anything would change?

Do we hope for God?

Do we take things in grips to return them to the way we thought they’re meant

Or do we leave it in the rain to decay?

I don’t know which way we should go

I don’t think anyone else does

Should we hope for divine intervention

Or are we fine?

As we rise, do we fit the system that we designed

Or are we shining lights in our own eyes?

It’s difficult to ignore the fact that we built this mould and that our systems and structures are failing

Now all that's left is waiting patiently for somebody to figure it out for our sake and bring us rules and regulations

Binding us to what’s right

Shielding us from destruction

Or preventing us to take flight?

Of the structures that lead to confusion is merely a system of layering all
