[Verse 1]

Walk-in clinic when I was 9

Started this hobby of mine

Watching the fish tank to kill the time

Don't tap the glass, set the sign

It's when I saw the guppy, the endler kind

From that day on, it never left my mind

"Mom can I get a fish?" "No we have to get to church"

"Mom, can I get one now?" "Maybe after you do research"

The library was my Google back then

Never ever left whenever I went

Never ever found a book I didn't yet read

All the fishkeeping was stuff I studied already

"Mom I think I'm ready, I won't fail

Now we wait for that Dollar per Gallon Sale"

So many choices, so many colors & scales

Long have I forgotten about my Endler tale

Distracted by the options I wanted to take them all

Mom said I can only pick 5 so I grabbed the ones I saw

Some were small, some were tall, I did not make the right call

& shortly after, no doubt, I hit that wall

The artificial decor & the lack of a rhizome

With the severe case of Noah's Arc Syndrome & no biome

All of a sudden, there was a burden in my my home

I stopped caring & cleaning the fish tank on my own

[?] took over the tank & also my heart

I forgot the best part of the hobby & what I had from the start

What I had wanted to start, all along

Was a piece of nature, in my room, growing strong

& after a long time when I had no time to spare

I passed by a fish tank & I've always stopped to stare

A little endler swimming in between the java ferns

At that moment, my heart relearned what it truly yearned

So I went home & found my fish tank empty & covered in dust

Dusted it off just like that & took care of the rust

"This time I'll do it right", I told myself, I knew I must

& I'll share my hobby with the world, whoever finds a fund

(It's funny how things happen)

(I guess you never really know what small little things can affect you the most)
