Learned Helplessness

Well it's raining in West Richmond again

And I'm suspended in the air

Above the empty streets

The row houses

And all the little things

Wondering “Do they even care?”

And my brother’s on the fence again

60 miles back home

Along Route 17

My memory still feels so pristine

And I am feeling so alone

And there's the faintest taste of loss again

I guess it never went away

And though there's no remorse

I probably shouldn't be so coarse

So I’ll breathe in

Breathe out

And I'll never be the same again

Guess I'll just have to get used to this

Is there no resolve?

Is there nothing left?

Besides waking up

And taking deep breaths

And I'll never be the same again

(Yeah probably not)

Guess I'll just have to get used to this

(I guess you will)

Is there no resolve?

Is there nothing left?

Besides waking up

And taking deep breaths
