I was driving down the highway of uncertainty

I took a wrong turn to make ends meet

Now I'm stuck on a one-way street, still searching for me

I was hunting down a monster that cannot be seen

He took my sword and said to me

"There's only room for one of us in this town, so who's it's gonna be?"

We're stuck in gridlock and we're choking on our own fumes

But when we fall, do we fall into place?

The smoke that blinds us is all that binds us when we're seeking an escape

We pay our bills, have a thirst for thrills to wash down the bitter that we taste

I was running from the past, present, and the future

I hit my toe and fell face-first

So I got back on my feet and ran towards what I'd cursed

We're stuck in gridlock and we're choking on our own fumes

But when we fall, do we fall into place?

The smoke that blinds us is all that binds us when we're seeking an escape

We pay our bills, have a thirst for thrills to wash down the bitter that we taste

When all you want is to scream and shout

Slow down now and make a plan

‘Cause when you're upside-down and you're inside-out

Don't forget we can

Get out of gridlock and stop choking on our own fumes

And when we fall, we can fall into place

The smoke can't blind us 'cause it can't find us now that we have all escaped

We pay our bills, have a thirst for thrills to wash down the bitter that we taste
