He is stating that what they had in the past was true love but now that it has ended he is done with love;The new girl is gullible and will not question his lies or make the relationship difficult for him.

Basically they don’t tell each other how they’re feeling. As the old saying goes, ignorance is bliss. And they’re both so ignorant that it’s perfect. They just ignore problems and hope things are going to be fine.

He dumped his girl ‘cause she seemed to point out things about him that he needed to work on. Or they actually talked about problems. Whereas this new girl doesn’t care – explained further in the next line.

Suggesting that this girl may be attracted to a certain type because her new man, who she thinks is her prince, is just another selfish man.

Before he met this new girl, she was the only thing in his world. She was “the one”.

“Girls with low self esteem” are generally easier to have sex with and manipulate. If you make them feel insecure about themselves, they will do anything to make you stay because they think that they won’t be able to get another man. It may be wrong, but as he says, he’s a selfish man.

I think he’s basically saying that he doesn’t need a relationship and the ‘rules’ that come with it. Even saying that he gave up true love ‘cause he prefers the convenience and the freedom of being single.

He’s using these different types of jobs as a metaphor for the kind of love that he needed.

Part-time jobs have fewer hours a week, which gives you more freedom and time to do what you want.

As opposed to part time, a career is what you will do for the rest of your life (ie. most people consider flipping burgers just a job, whereas being a doctor is a career). This is taken much more seriously.

Dumb is saying that he needs his freedom and that a long term relationship is not for him.
