The Same Time (Original)

A story of survivors either side of the thunder plain

Mind occupied from the strains of these hunger pains

Last meal a week ago, several months since any rain

Dust in the air, grains of sand fill the drain (still the pain)

Still the pain in his stomach and it doesn’t change

Outside the crops shriveled up, dying just the same

Change in the climate of, the region that was monitored

Everything drying up, rivers and the aquifers

The hot air rises then it cools in the stratosphere

Storms rolling in as hеr eyes watch the shadows nеar

Levees failed, offering the water that’s unwanted

Falling from the sky simply adding to the problem

Sandbags submerged on the ground where they stay

Above that, any trace of life washed away

Driven through disaster, they took it all and gave it

Consequence of elements absent moderation (at the same time)

Steady looking forward so we’re never falling back

Always unexpected when these opposites attract

A circular existence riding on this carousel

Life comes and goes, saying farewells in parallel

Fighting for a balance made us calm under pressure

Things fall apart yet we’re strong from our efforts

Snapshots, never could remain just the same

The only thing that’s constant in our lives is the change

Efficiency in overdrive, everything is optimized

Lowered costs, made it, now the product changing all our lives

Safety numbers raised, but eliminated labor

What started as a drop had become a giant wave

Father to his children and a dedicated husband

A factory worker but his job was made redundant

Disrupted, now he’s unemployed and with no plan

Stranded in the past, learned that time waits for no man

A fact of every life, regardless if you’re on the fence
