Ironically, this line also goes hand in hand with the song “Doing it Wrong” on Take Care. The song has a Stevie Wonder harmonica solo at the end and it is the track right before “The Real Her” on the album.

In these verses Andre alludes to the common trope, “We always want what we don’t have”. That is to say that married men seem to wish to have a single life again and be polygamous, however, on the other end of the spectrum those men that spend their time in strip clubs or with multiple women may wish for the opposite. In a following verse he mentions that both types of people end up color blind as they believe the “grass is greener” on the other side, but each neglects to be content in their own life as it is. In the end, both mindsets result in a lose-lose scenario (hence both become colorblind).

Lil Wayne references “Miss Me” by Drake again in these lyrics:

“And girl i’m fuckin’ serious, I’m with it if you with it”

Drake has previously shown love for Houston, Atlanta and Vegas in “Houstatlantavegas.” Additionally, H-Town’s influence throughout Take Care is evident.

Why the allure for these three cities? Las Vegas has been a place rappers flock to as it’s known for its famous nightlife (as well as strippers). Atlanta is home of the Andre 3000, who is featured on this song. Also, Atlanta is a booming industry in hip hop. Lastly, Houston is home to ‘chopped and screwed music,’ which has a big influence on the South as well as Drake’s mentor Lil Wayne, who is also featured on the song. Each city holds a special place in the three rappers who are on “The Real Her.”

Here, Andre 3000 is saying: to those people whom have worked through their problems, stemming from traumas, ego, etc…

Other people will only look at to detest them, because they cannot believe somebody else has actually worked on themselves, rather than being as low as them… and using distractions/addictions to get away from them.

And those ‘souls’ will only later on go on to study this person to look for the tiniest of flaw/ abnormality to blow it out of proportion and claim they were right and they’re just as low as them, with their ‘addictions’. to justify to them self and make themselves feel better or in an attempt to aggravate this person in the hope they will react and lower them self to their level/ standards.

Going off on the “colorblind” line, saying “the other side looks greener” means it looks better for the future, but the Boise state line deals with the fact that they are sad. Being “blue” is synonymous for being sad; it’s hard to see things for what they really are when you are sad

Boise states turf is blue, so the “cuz” that leads into the next line could also be a reference to Crips, who refer to members of their gang as cuz or cousin, and whose main color is blue. A little more color wordplay.
