The Truth

Verse 1:

By material measure we're dirt poor

But my Spirit tells me I'm worth more

So why undermine my genetic line

Denying the things that I work for

No prior record of wrong doing

Never used dope as a conduit

For currency flow, at least not for show

Cause I don't want brother to go through it

And I don't want sister to like me

Doing opposite of the right thing

Cause I know that I know they eye me

And life is more than what eye sees

Or what I know so I open my mind

Aware of my words aware of my vibe

Aware that nobody can tare what I scribe

Aware that my gift is from the Divine

(Talking)

Verse 2:

If I don't speak your slang

They say my music won't bang

If I don't glorify what horrifies me I can't make no change

If I speak my mind through peaceful lines then I can't cop no chain

What if I don't want no chain except for the ones locked on your brain

Would it be strange? Well, Probably to you but

Aw screw it, probably a loose nut

Much rather be partying juiced up

Ignoring the way poverty abuses... us

Gotta fix your mental kid

'Cause we're broke as the system is

Man Know Thyself

'Cause it's hard to relate to

Only what Caucasians did

(Talking)
