My skin is bark, my hair is moss

Swear to god, my splintered heart is barely crossed

Birds make their nests on my twisted arms

A singing lark’s sitting on my finger, drinking liquid stars

From the rippling pond my broken back is bridging over

Down on my luck, crawling, hope to catch a mythic clover

Guess my ankles had a rope attached, I’m tripping over

Wind gripped my roots with a hold, my backbone hit a boulder

Crack, I don’t feel a thing, but it’s weird

To be staring at reflections of the rings of my years

I think it’s sorta regal but

Now I’m just provisions for a beetle bug

In another week the green is gone

Critters of the forest crinkle autumn leaves they’re sleeping on

I hope these foxes stop and listen to my withered words

And little pearls of wisdom in a big and swirling windy world
