Stuck in a paradoxical quandary of conflicted thoughts and apathy

Life in a world of imminent failure

Catalyst to the allure to despond

The foolishness of optimists

Arrogance found in bliss

Continuing to blindly sit

Comfortably in the shit

And all I see is a dying world

The roaring flames singe my eyes

Burning my brow

I abide to the fire

A long neglected fire has rendered recovery a laughable notion

In this loss of hope

I abide to the fire

The foolishness of optimists

Arrogance found in bliss

Continuing to blindly sit

Comfortably in the shit

One night I was awoken by premonitions of existential dread

Non-existence, the peroration of sentience stunned me with fear

In this state of paralysis I lifted my eyes above me and saw an ominous figure of a man

The fear receded, substituted with immense desolation

Without a word he spoke so clearly

A frequency direct input into my mind

With lack of an explanation I knew his intentions

The antidote for disdain of life was to rid myself from it's burden

In anger and disgust I refused the notion

Gaining back my bodily functions

I sprung out of my bed to attack

As he vanished from my perception

In an effort to find him I gazed above me

At the ceiling, I read in blood

Enjoy the rest of your company

Terrified, I ran outside to seek solace from another perspective

Realizing the area was desolate

When a featureless shadow

Vanishing and reappearing

Screaming in a silence then lulled me to sleep

Opening my eyes to feel raindrops upon my head and a pair of bright headlights beside me

Sir, are you okay?

The ambulances are on their way

Weeping, hoping it was just a dream

And all I see is a dying world

The roaring flames singe my eyes

Burning my brow

The flame shines brighter

Stuck in a paradoxical quandary of conflicted thoughts and apathy

Life in a world of imminent failure

Catalyst to the allure to despond

The thought has not left me

I anxiously await their appearance

Still hearing the silence of the scream
