Isolated

I’m not isolated

I just like personal space

That could mean miles away

That could mean I need to think

That could mean drowning inside

That could mean I need a drink

Or maybe I’m blind by my pride

Maybe I’m crossing the brink

I never tried raising my sails

Cause my ship was destined to sink

I’d rather be showered in lies

Than hearing the truth when it stings

They know that I’m dying inside

But my grave is too far to reach

You’ll find the truth in my eyes

I don’t have secrets to keep

I dream but I don’t like to sleep

I feel like I don’t have the time

Cause time’s never waited on me

I don’t hide my face when I cry

When I’m filled up too much I might leak

My cup’s overflowing with blessings

But they’re not my blessings to keep

These are just valuable lessons

They tell me my father’s a king

Then why do I feel like a step son

If I sacrifice everything

Will that mean that one day I’ll impress him?

And hopefully one day we’ll meet

Bet he understands my obsession

I’m praying he’s praying for me

Cause even the strong meet defeat

I’m not isolated

I just like personal space

That could mean miles away

That could mean I need to think

That could mean drowning inside

That could mean I need a drink

Or maybe I’m blind by my pride

Maybe I’m crossing the brink
