[Verse 1]

Arisen from the ashes, birthed from the dirt

Endured all the worst and then lived through the hurt

Been through prehistoric, then through renaissance

Stood for a lot, all too nonchalant

Grew a few thorns to protect herself

Sometimes did well, other times, bad health

Got carried by day to a brand new world

Lived nights on edge, seen it all unfurl

Implanted with love and we know that's eternal

Pierced through belly of the beast

Sliced right at the girdle

Sharp at the tongue

Though her beauty is fertile

And calming for some

Uh, left her mark on the world

Some would call it a scar

But that's a little too far

We need to check who we are

Yeah, we need to check who we are

We ain't got, 'cause we ain't God

Uh, on God!

Screaming MashAllah!

Risen above, they listen to us

Only thing sure of that we have is love

Though before, we didn't know what that was

Is it coincidence that all we've known is up?

Look that way, then rose above

Made a way there once, then was broken down

In a race against time

And we're still there now

Bridged that gap, evolved a little

Watched her mature

Now, in hundreds of degrees, then, in icicles

Still, love remains, that's a common theme

Pigmentation, or lack thereof

Whether they believe or not, man, love is love

Coexist, that's enlightenment

Though every day we lose sight of this

What's this environment, ain't you tired of it?

Watched almost everything change

Yet we're still mostly the same

Ten percent of our brain? Dang...

What have we learned and what's really been taught?

Root of all evil, you know what that involves

Done more bad than good

Yet she withstood the cause

Standing strong, she moved along

Yeah, brightest days, darkest nights

There and gone, but just because of light

Maintained existence, but at the spite of what?

Is she just here to see what this becomes?

In a battle with our inner battles

Then we fight ourselves, for what prowess?

For more power, more callus?

From modern day, to pre-palace

Temples to pyramids, pretending we ain't hearing it

But knowing that we're feeling it

We've just been concealing this

From driest deserts to mist from the oceans

And she still sits

Somewhere on a cliff

So through this dirt, I sift...
