Impossible Green

By Daniel Romano

On Modern Pressure

Thumbnail

In reckless moments something went

From being to born being spent

In words it came had soon been said

To watch beyond the grasses

A yellow blush of gaping sky

Had opened all the calloused eyes

To study it and realize

The glare behind the lashes

[Chorus]

The assasins are fleshy and true

What about you?

Tell me what would a thespian do?

The words for the pigments and scenes

May display what it means

But it’s only the stains of my dreams

And impossible green

Now every poem I feel the air

If bending in a woman’s care

With emerald eyes and golden hair

New lips for every morning

Around somewhere beyond the sphere

Is making future children fear

The thought of ever coming here

As a witness to the murder

[Chorus]

The assasins are fleshy and true

What about you?

Tell me what would a thespian do?

The words for the pigments and scenes

May display what it means

But it’s only the stains of my dreams

And impossible green

A hold of distant fabled prones

Through every ear in quarter tones

And boils the marrow in your bones

As violent tongues are lashing

The scope of hating every step

The trampled faith, the angels wept

The only vision that was left

Is in the corner laughing

[Chorus]

The assasins are fleshy and true

What about you?

Tell me what would a thespian do?

The words for the pigments and scenes

May display what it means

But it’s only the stains of my dreams

And impossible green
