[Verse 1]
I felt a lost, I felt a lost place to call my home
I found you here when I was broken, all alone
And I thought of you when I was under all that dirt
I thought of growing, thought of you and all you hurt
I felt a lost, I felt a lost people with no throne
I was a crow flying out in a golden dome
I thought I told you I would never be at peace
I thought I loved you, but you had me on my knees
[Instrumental Chorus]
[Verse 2]
I felt a sharp, I felt a sharp pain beneath my gown
You used your hands to bury me in the frozen ground
And I thought of you when I was underneath that dirt
Thought of rising, thought of how I'd make you hurt
[Chorus]
I'll make you hurt, I'll make you hurt
I'll make you hurt, I'll make you hurt
I'll make you hurt, I'll make you hurt
I'll make you hurt, I'll make you hurt
[Outro]
I'll make you hurt, I'll make you hurt
I'll make you hurt, I'll make you hurt
I'll make you hurt, I'll make you hurt
I'll make you hurt, I'll make you hurt
A “bird in a gilded cage” is a person that lives a life of luxury but does not get to experience true freedom, often believing that the luxury is all they need to be happy until they get a taste of life outside the cage.
Just like Roddy from hit 2006 animated movie Flushed Away, Crywolf is trapped in a comfortable and luxurious life, but cannot be truly happy until breaking out and finding freedom.

The album’s motif of burial and exhumation continues, in this instance Crywolf has been buried alive and abandoned, but instead of betrayal or hurt he feels resentment and anger, plotting on how to exact revenge.
In Anachronism, Crywolf bowed to his love’s throne, submitting to her.
Now that he has arrived in a place with no thrones he has come to realise that someone who truly loved him would not demand he submit to them in such a way.
