I couldn’t make a word
Underneath the crowd
The last time I would hear her
Say my name out loud
I couldn’t stay away
The light was almost gone
I couldn’t understand her
So I just carried on
She pushed me to the edge
Yet I was not afraid
And though I fell down blinded
I saw what she had made
She helped me through the red
And built me up so high
But I took her for granted
I chose to pass her by
I feel empty
And I know I let her down
Sometimes in the dark
I sit and close my eyes
Underneath the shadows
I can hear her cry
And if I was a man
I’d go to her and change
But a man can’t live forever
And expect to feel the same
I feel empty
And I know I let her down
