He’s saying that the speaker is just bullshitting people, with a bunch of complex words in order to sound smart.
Another play on the lyrics of Clint Eastwood by Gorillaz. The Gorillaz lyrics read;
“I ain’t happy, I’m feeling glad
I got sunshine in a bag
I’m useless, but not for long
The future is coming on”
Conform expresses a much more pessimistic view of the world compared to the Gorillaz lyric, inverting the melancholy sense of hope that Clint Eastwood propels, turning it into a darker sense of nihilistic futility.
A possible nod to the Halo franchise of video games:
The Pillar of Autumn was a Halcyon-Class Star Cruiser, appearing in both Halo: Reach and Halo: Combat Evolved. At the end of Halo: CE, the player’s character, Spartan John-117, or Master Chief, attempts to trigger the ship’s self-destruction mechanism to destroy a Halo installation. The self-destruction mechanism fails, but John-117 detonates the ship using “tactical ordinance,” and escapes the ensuing destruction of the Halo ring.
These two lines illustrate the amazing intellectual capabilities of Conform. In case you missed it, it’s an extremely subtle reference to a song by the Gorillaz. It’s lyrics are playfully tossed around among the sad, chaotic story within the song. It’s a humble tip of the hat to one of the greats and this makes Conform 10/10 would listen again
