[Verse One]

If you look hard enough into a man's soul

You may find a pit that's as dark and as deep as a manhole

And you can't know, how much evil a man holds

Or when his heart turn to stone or when his blood ran cold

Behind every corner there's a story to be told

About normally people who just morally fold

On the road, when I'm touring doing these shows

I see it everyday it's right in front of my nose

I'm always watching my back from people wanting my doe

So I watch how I'm packing and keep a gun in my clothes

We ain't put here forever, when it's done I'ma go

With a smile knowing I reached every one of my goals

But every time I turn around it's like the game wants blood

And the thing I most hate is the thing I once loved

Snakes coming out the woodwork

And everybody is putting out their hands without putting in footwork

For money, some hit the block hard and push work

Hoping that you hit the rock and get hooked worse

Robbed of your innocence and robbed of a life

Cause you spend half your time serving out jail sentences

We never know if the ending is

Going to be a happy one or one where we die when it finishes

I read the book of Genesis and have a Revelation

Evil is my nemesis, I'm seeking elevation

[Hook] {x2}

I know the heart of the lie

We believe it's in the people

Maybe that's the root of evil

[Verse Two]

Now are we all bad, that's the main question I face

Cause I seen a lot things that keep testing my faith

Like I've seen a gun shoved in my face

And the death of a friend who would've gladly caught a slug in my place

I never know when and how the reaper might silence me

Violently? Or when I sleep at night quietly?

I think privately, "Who can I trust?"

When my so called friends can look in my eye and lie to me

If necessary, y'all should ride and die with me

My high times turn to stone cold sobriety

Something inside of me turned to brick

When my best friend went bad and learned to flip

He was a preacher's son in college he deserved respect

Now he's coked up calling me, a nervous wreck

And one of my crew members used to serve it wet

He did a bid now he's back, did he serve his debt?

He's on the right path now trying to turn correct

But the evil always got us, you ain't learn that yet?

[Hook]

[Verse Three]

There's been times when we've all sin we're quite the same

But when it's all said and done, how'd you fight the pain?

It's like mind over matter

But at times the dark part of our minds overshadow

When our hearts lose the battle

That's why we poison our body to lose memory

And treat ourselves like our own worst enemy

We devote time and energy to chasing cash

So we do the unspeakable to make it fast

But instead of trying to make it last

We'd rather spend it at a club watching a chick shake her naked ass

Will it ever end? I hate to ask

What we do now, probably won't negate the past

But these streets are on fire ain't no safest path

So in case of emergency, break the glass

Like a state of emergency, these tasteless acts

Got my mind spinning and my heart racing fast

Cause I'm guilty as the next man for going astray

Will I start a good thing just to throw it away?

Is my only fact of life

The fact that I see the afterlife before I've lived half my life?

You can see my pain at times I don't mask it right

Instead of crying sometimes I gotta laugh at night

Cause the stars in the sky don't seem half as bright

It's like the world went dark cause God snatched the light
