[Gambit]

The city hyperventilates

As the night air penetrates through the pipe cleared by the featherweights

Declared renegades, a label plainly given

By the same people riddling their children's brains with Ritalin

A deranged litigant, giggling, ogles a prostitute

Scorned by cops that watch porn when they drop the lawful suit

A monster looms in the darkest rooms of a hospital

Wanting you, to notice and, the lotus plant lost its bloom

This homeless man only wants some soup

But it's gotta be the truth for dishonesty he would not consume

I saw him lose his pocket watch, dropped it in the sewer

Then sighed "I'm out of time" with his eyes locked on the frosted moon

Pish posh; I've never met an obstacle

I wasn't better for crossing but I guess evolution is optional

It's quite the night to get lost into, it's pretty

Just be careful when you're watching the city

The city's watching you

[Clutch.]

Fog exfoliates; Sun seems to roll away

This overcast is here to stay

Whilst the city looks with pity, the children play

Oblivious to each building’s pain

The adults, they still haven’t changed

Envy hits like thunder, regret like every drop of rain

That’s why when you look at them their eyes are sodden

Former prodigies to oddities roam the streets on their odyssey Only to be forgotten

God has seen these vagabonds with their bags of dreams Meandering the cities streets but is anxious to appease

Ungratefully they make their way through the same cycle Escaping only through fantasies that history has plagiarized

And repetition has destabilized

Able minds often ponder deep within the light pollution

The right solution to reduce the pull of the moon

But are subdued and lucid

It’s very tragic, for society’s not fair and balanced

And it seems every Judas says he's Mary Magdalene

They barely notice the serotonin and pheromones

The air's too potent to share a moment and as it grows

The city undergoes suffocation

It’s just a wasteland decaying beneath your feet

As you place them

[Gambit]

Complacently gazing at the way that they lay adjacent

As you hasten your pacing

Afraid of making mistakes but remaining incapable of escape

Wasting away your days evading the shame and the pain

Chasing your dream

Hoping it isn't only a waste of your patience

With lungs hurt from the cigarette

Old enough to murder, still too young to purchase liquor yet

The veteran reflects on the deaths of his best companions

He served and was left abandoned, deserted next to his silhouette

He couldn't believe that he had fought for their freedom

When all the people wouldn't even spare a dollar to feed him

He longed to clean the awful scenes still from his recollection

As mothers usher children off in the other direction

One of the countless souls to question why they're here

Gridlocked in a metropolis bound to a life of fear

Astounded by how the wounded would drown to dry the tears

That compounded while shouting muted aloud to quiet ears

It's difficult to breathe in

Amidst the drifting smoke inflicted quickly by ritualistic demons

We could embrace the pain, or race forever just to stay numb

But you're the only one you'll never be able to run away from
