“Why’d you go so soon?”

You ignored my question, looked away thinking

Then you told me about the sights

About the rockets flying by

Even about the stars exploding in the dark sky

You went on & on

It was enchanting to see you so appalled

I wanted to climb up there with you

To lay there for a while

Watch earth go by

We can stare at each other’s eyes

Hear the silence in the skies

The peacefulness keeps me at bay

“Why won’t you let me stay?”

“Why do you always look away?”

After a moment, I float back down to the ground

You stay on the moon

And as I go to sleep, I see you

Still gazing at your surroundings
