“Super size”, an extra-large size for fries and drinks, was the largest portion offered by fast food chain McDonald’s until its discontinuation was announced in March of 2004 (source). The restaurant was the subject of a critical documentary titled “Super Size Me”.
There is a joke which pairs a laundry list of unhealthy foods only to follow up with “…and a Diet Coke”. The point of the joke is that, when combined with all the other unhealthy options, a so-called “diet” Coke is a nearly negligible step toward a healthier lifestyle. This lyric takes the joke a step further by pointing out that many people will order the low-calorie, sodium-free, sugar-free, etc. options (“diet fries” is practically as oxymoronic as “Diet Coke”), but will consume them in such quantity as to negate the fact that they are supposedly lower in unhealthy ingredients.
This lyric plays at The Law of Conservation of Mass, which states that, “In a chemical reaction, matter is neither created nor destroyed”.
