Way down there
Almost out of reach of my senses
Hard to see from up here
A suit of flesh and bones lies discarded
But there is life in it still
Unperturbed by its obsolescence
Heaving
Breathing
Still believing
I'm not leaving
Like a shipwreck
That's never seen the ocean
Idly disregarded
By my essence's evanescence
Evermore
An open door
Let's have our fill
Let's take some more
Lust, empyreal
Undone of flesh and its rules
Only fools ask "is it real?"
Always one more layer to peel
Send in the ghouls
Angels flare in astral inflorescence
Hide their discarnated fear, herding souls
By hapless psychic smallness guarded
Ere dread moves in for the kill
And sparks its roaring cruel incandescence
Safety's a mirage
Every psalm's just a threnody
When the world rides on wings of entropy
And its ceaseless sabotage
Demons teem, might as well join them
For more lucid is the dream that has coined them
They perish all the same
But at least they know
Make me one of you
I accede, make me one of you
There's no path to take
When there's no direction but astray
But abdication of futile ambition and all pretense of relevance
I reject eternity
For eternity is hell
Seething, weaving
Shunless grieving
For those believing
Better to make me one of you
I accede, make me one of you
Whatever lasts forever
With no end in sight
Before long will become
Unbearable, a tyranny
Terrible, a blasphemy
Against merciful death
The original apostasy
I shall not serve
