CAIN:
Back in high school I would struggle to make friends
Didn't clique with nobody, I didn’t follow the trends
What was the point? I mean, all of it ends
Living in my mind was like looking through a lens, like
I'd be thinking shit that wasn't really true
Someone say they love me and my mind threw it askew
I would tell myself "man, nobody fuck with you"
Then I’d give an excuse and never shift my point of view
Being hateful was easy, 'cause for love I had to change
I was too used to my familiar pain
I had to put in some effort, knowing it could be in vain
I reflexively tensed whenever someone said my name
I lived for drama, seeing everything vicarious
Even if it meant putting me somewhere precarious
No matter what it was, I never took nothing serious
And if you hated me, then you had to be delirious
Took a couple years, to find my sense of self
Had to break some habits that were damaging my health
I really love the craft, I don't do it for the wealth
I'ma really make it work with the hand that I was dealt
CAIN & Jupiterkami:
Yeah
It ain't the same
It ain't the same
(You won't make mistakes again)
Uh, uh
I'm not the same
I’m not the same
(You won’t make mistakes again)
Jupiterkami:
In retrospect, my dialect imitate-
Culture or so they say
Truth be told my nature is fraudulent
Begging for the compliments
Never came my way, now I got a heart of hate
The old me, a code switch, ‘cause what the people say
A lack validation turned to bitterness
Everything's a hit or miss
I embraced the wickedness
Opposing all the populous
Feigning I had confidence
Fabricated dominance
Attitude of rottenness
But it had a consequence
I seen my circle getting smaller
At the time I refused to see it as my fault
Everyone’s accomplishments, made me lack acknowledgment
Off and on I'm proud of them, but it took a toll
Backhanded compliments, they seeing through the facade
Initiating arguments, I had a talk with God
My friends had enough of it
Now I walk alone, with bitterness, regretting that I'm lost
CAIN & Jupiterkami:
Yeah
It ain't the same
It ain’t the same
(You won't make mistakes again)
Uh, uh
I'm not the same
I'm not the same
(You won't make mistakes again)
CAIN:
I keep telling my mom that her son gon' be a star
I never even thought that I could make it this far
Here I was worried, that I wasn't up to par
But every new tape, I keep raising up the bar
To everyone who hated me, I pray you always blessed
Living in the moment, but still thinking 'bout what's next
I open up my phone, no longer worried bout a text
I'm thinking bout the old me that has been laid to rest
You don't have to forgive me, for I know I've done you wrong
I let the demons win for far too long
I focused on myself, now I'm steady getting strong
I finally found a place where I feel like I belong
Tell my family I'm sorry
Friends that I'm sorry
Enemies I'm sorry
CAIN:
It ain't the same
It ain't the same
I'm not the same
I'm not the same
