I stay in bed and try to sleep

Oh, it doesn't matter

I toss and turn on dirty sheets

Better I did without her

I'd grind my crooked fucking teeth

Until they crack and shatter

Then I think I need another drink

But remember that it doesn't get any better

In the morning, if i still wake up alone

And know that I'm in an empty home with no one to hold

So I just pop a pill that will give me the apathy I need to sleep

So then I can get up and do it all again

I just can't sleep here

How I'd kill for a dream

But I'd settle for a nightmare

Just so that I can close my eyes

And pretend everything's alright

The only thing that's as scary as the monster that's in my closet

Is the thought that if he isn't, he'd escape

I couldn't stop him from starting to tear me apart

From ripping off my arms, and taking my heart

Clean out of my chest

But the best that I can do is to just lay in bed

And pull the covers up over my head

And hope that everything gets better in the morning

When the sun is pouring through the window curtains

And I'm certain that it's not away, and I can sit up and say

I just can't sleep here

How I'd kill for a dream

But I'd settle for a nightmare

Just so that I can close my eyes

And pretend everything's alright

Everything's alright

I just can't sleep here

How I'd kill for a dream

But I'd settle for a nightmare

Just so that I can close my eyes

I just can't sleep here

How I'd kill for a dream

But I'd settle for a nightmare

Just so that I can close my eyes

And pretend everything's alright

Well, everything's alright

Everything's alright
