Summer’s Torn

Once left off

Now it shows itself again

While I wait

In longer lines with empty kids

Throwing arms

Overhead then hitting skin

Here from there

Keeping track of the things

I believe that they want from me

Missed the sign

Hiding it in the shed

Send them smiles

Sugared teeth and sunburned lips

Count the rays

Sherbet gold, now summer's torn

Back for more

Counting off all the things

I believe that they took from me

It always comes disguised

As slow until it flies

Don't know it until you're faced

With so much time to waste

Every time it's just the same

Every time it can't contain

As it gently drags you down

Until you're happy to be down
