Mockingbird

INTRO:

I know sometimes, things may not make sense to you right now

But hey, what brothers always tell you?

Straighten up snackwrap – stiffen up that upper lip

What you cryin about? Brothers will be home soon

VERSE 01:

IE I know you miss brothers, and I'm really missin you bad

I'm gone, but mom is tryin to give you the best life you've ever had

Mom tells me that your sad, even when you smile, even you laugh

She can see it in those eyes, deep inside you want to cry

Cause I know that your scared, I ain't there, Ima be in those prayers

Don't be cryin, wipe them tears, I gonna be here, no more nightmares

We can pull together through it, we goin' do it

Joc, Momma's crazy ain't she?, yeah but she loves you girls and you

Better know it

We're all got it in this world, when it spins, when it swirls

Even when it whirls, when it twirls, my two little beautiful girls

Lookin puzzled, in a daze, I know it's confusin you

Brothers always leavin you, never really seeing you

I try to keep you sheltered from it, but somehow it seems

The harder that I try to do that the more it backfires on me

All the times growing up, seems like life isn't suppose to be

Brothers don't want to see but you know as much as I do

I didn't mean to plan it this way, momma and me

But things are not good between us, I can't see us ever being

Under the same roof, like It to be whenever I was 13

But then of course everything happens for some reason

I guess this was never meant to be

But it's just somethin me and momma have no control over and that's what our destiny is

But no worries, rest your head and baby go to sleep

Maybe one day i'll wake you and it'll all be just a dream

VERSE 02:

Haha, it's funny

I remember back in '07

Mommy told me that I was gonna have a baby sista

And when I held your hand, lay-ed down to kiss ya

I never will forget that moment

I felt like a brother and couldn't wait for you to get older

And now that I don't live with you at the time, you know we still keep it going

Either you are with mom or your with your daddy

And no matter what you i'm proud of you

Tryin out soccer is amazing, and even the grades you've been making

And mom, she loves you to the point where there's no clue

I'm tryin to start a new life, but it kills me to say goodbye

Almost 14 years without us splitting apart

And I know it hurt so bad it broke your heart

And it seems like everything was about to fall apart

Me and momma arguing a lot, now we ain't together

It's breaks my heart but life will always get better

And when brothers moved to Alanta I know it felt like I just left ya

And now with my dad, and he flew me back to see you and momma Then you Started to worry, '' where is brothers '' I miss him

And momma didn't like it, and you and Joc are too young to understand it

Brothers doesn't get along with mommy

And this happened so damn fast for the both of you

I'm just sorry that you were there and had to witness this

Cause all I ever wanted was to make momma proud

Now I'm sittin in this empty house, just reminiscin

Writing about you right now, it always trips me out

To see how much you have grown up now, it's like your my own daughter now

Wow, guess you pretty arn't, and brothers is still there

Jocelyn I'm talkin to you too, Brothers is still there

I like the sound of that, yeah, it's like there's a ring to it

Shh, Brothers only gone for the moment
