Locked behind a crooked smile that doesn't reach their eyes

Straw men and paper tigers

Leave no trace but burn much brighter

Blinding us with smoke and mirrors

While they make their plans

Distract, dissemble and deny

Distort the facts, defend the lie

Obfuscate, obstruct, obscure

Until there's nothing left but

Rumour, slander

We must not confuse dissent with disloyalty

We must remember always that accusation is not proof

Conviction depends upon evidence and due process of law

And remember that we are not descended from fearful men
