I am in the mood to sentimentally scroll through my videos and realise I forgot your birthday

Sit and wonder why, if we grew apart, if we didn't try, or when I return, will it be to the first day

When we had met, when we had smiled, made some memories for a while

But I suppose a while's not forever

And now we're here, you never call, and I'm too nervous to at all

I wait too long, it's too late and no better

How can we come back to the past

If I'd known whеre we are now, I'd promisе to make it last

If I could catch that lightning in a bottle

If I could lay in that feeling of hope

If I could see your face again, and know despite this we're still friends

That'd be enough, just to know

I'm reading our messages, group chats and one-on-ones, and wondering how it all turned out this way

Look back just a year ago, the two of us, inseperable, and now confronted with a sense of dismay

I still remember every second like it's seared into my skull

Not a moment worth forgetting, never bored and never dull

So now I've sat here for a while, a new non-artificial smile, and curiousity what would make this change

How can we come back to the past

If I'd known where we are now, I'd promise to make it last

If I could catch that lightning in a bottle

If I could lay in that feeling of hope

If I could see your face again, and know despite this we're still friends

That'd be enough, just to know

Happy birthday by the way

I wish it wasn't so belated

And I have so much more to say

I just feel sorry now

For how it all turned out

You might not even know it, but I'm still questioning

How can we come back to the past

If I'd known where we are now, I'd promise to make it last

If I could catch that lightning in a bottle

If I could lay in that feeling of hope

If I could see your face again, and know despite this we're still friends

That'd be enough, just to know

That'd be enough, just to know

That'd be enough, just to know
