Preying on the stray

In this silent summer night

Means my time has really come at last

We might leave so soon

We make the river dark

We could just wade in its shallow waters

The light falls on this simple sacrifice

Throwing up the weasels lose their names

Laying out the shame

In this midsummer’s night

Seems so strange to really be so still

We might sleep under the moon

We cast our shadows deep

This life could be so ripe

Could be so right

And the light falls down on this dreary sacrifice

Taking all we’ve saved

Sensing you the rodents dart away

Can’t you see the forest tonight

So

You say you love me

Please adore me and offer up your soul

You

You know you want me

I’ll just grope where I want and then rip out your soul

When your fear has drowned out the violence in your home

And you’ve taken all the gods can throw your way

When you’re crawling in the rain and the tears won’t wash away

A roadkill but not in my name

So

You say you love me

Please adore me and offer up your soul

You

You know you want me

I’ll just grope where I want and then rip out your soul

With my insides where you can see now

Where my guts spell out my story

All I desire is now fleeing

Light the fires I’m surely leaving

See me dancing in the starry skies

With the shiny moon

I’ll be dancing in the waves you’ll find me

I’ll be dancing in the seasons

You’ll find me please don’t mourn

I’ll be dancing in the rain

You’ll find me

I stand on your road to glory

For the first time please feel something

You might try and say you’re sorry

I don’t know if that will do
