[Verse 1]

On days like this, I wish I had a recording device

Tape operator, let my track drop nice

Yeah, on a night like this, I got my mitts on my first mic and

Lickity split, cellar in the Summer of 1995

I rapped it, plugged it in, made a horrible sound

An ugly punk baby screaming, “someone see me right now”

I’m 15 years old then, too small for girlfriends

2000 AD, and thundercats was my world when

A whirlwind, I’m furled in the room with a few of my friends

I’d do it again and again if I had to begin again, way back when, uh

[Chorus]

Here we go again

Just me and a few of my friends

We’re on the road again

It’s hit and run and then wе’re done

Fade into thе nighttime

[Post-Chorus]

I, I hope

I, I-I, I hope

I, I hope, hope

I, I hope

I, I hope—

I hope tomorrow don’t never come

[Verse 2]

Oh, hold up now, that chorus stopped me dead in my tracks, uh

Where was I? Oh yeah, reminiscinnin’ on back then

B-back when we had nothing and we turned it into something

The other kiddies did the dumb thing, we studied our art

Stumbling blind in the dark, we felt the rumbling start

Of this creature, much bigger than the sum of its parts

It was B-A-B-Y-H-E-A-D, bugging at me, drive me crazy

Like an alien entity, assuming my identity

Or a bad baby, screaming:

“Daddy, please play with me”

[Chorus]

Uh, here we go again

Just me and a few of my friends

We’re on the road again

It’s hit and run and then we’re done

Fade into the nighttime

Here we go again

Just me and a few of my friends

We’re on the road again

It’s hit and run and then we’re done

Fade into the nighttime

[Bridge]

When Babyhead’s been reduced to nothing but merchandise

By product placement and hype, then I’ll

Hang up my mic, wake my wife and my cubs

And disappear into the night

I’ll leave the trappings of modern life in tidy piles by the roadside

Pack a napsack for the crayons and cake, and

Trek through the woods in search of a better life

We slept by day and travelled by moonlight, and after

Eight moons we came to a clearing in the trees

Built a stage, there were sticks fashioned, a canopy of leaves

We played rap shows for the animals while the fireflies light

Packed the badgers to the back rows, filled the floor with field mice

We did the monster piece, stomped to the beat of the marmot drums, a

Chorus line of bullfrogs hummed the bass track low, the

Horns section was a gaggle of 26 drunk black crows

And in the treetops, a parakeet drop

Beatboxing, the hummingbirds sing to whoever’s listening, and the

Word was carried on, the whispering in to the zoos and the farms and the pet shops, and the

Animals there picked their locks and joined us under the stars

Doing the jitterbug in their best fronts

[Chorus]

Here we go again

Just me and a few of my friends

We’re on the road again

It’s hit and run and then we’re done

Yeah

Here we go again

Just me and a few of my friends

We’re on the road again

It’s hit and run and then we’re done

Fade into the nighttime
