There was a time when we wanted youth delayed

But the sun destroys what happens in the shade

And the salad days are something that you never thought you'd trade

But in a handshake you give away all that you made

There’s no point in waiting it's already past us

If you stop to look for too long with sadness

You will get older and want to know why all the days flew past us

If you were mine I'd tell you to stay engaged

With the times that are lingering beyond your gaze

Because with every step you make to prepare

Will be wasted time when you realise that you’re already there
