When I wake up in the morning, the pain is still there

Sometimes it comes without warning; I try not to care

The time I spent with you is still unparalleled in my mind

Despite what you put me through, I still hope that you find whatever it is you need

But whatever it is I need wasn't in you

Whatever it is I need, you fell incomplete

You made me feel worse

You made it all hurt

What a foolish month of my life

I poured my all into something that was never right

You wanted me to meet your friends, you wanted to meet my parents

Well what happened?

On our last night together

I kissed someone I hated

Pretending you were who I thought you were one last time

As you fell from grace in my eyes

Seeing you now is a knot in my stomach, a lump in my throat, a dampness in my eyes

I wonder if you're doing fine

Do I cross your mind from time to time?

Are you doing fine?

I know you never asked me to

But I felt myself try to change for you

It's a damage I must undo

I would have done anything for you

This isn't how I thought it'd end

I see you and I must pretend

That I'm fine when I'm hurt by the situation that I put myself in

Do you see us as friends?

And I hope you find whatever it is you need

I'm sorry that it wasn't me

Your smile still paralyzes me
