My dream of August fades again
As autumn's evening sits at the edge
Northern wind, dew on the grass
An orange sky of dying light
A little bit of gold in her quick smile
Under red bar lights
The lost nights of another lifetime
Now I only look back
The shine of early morning
And a restless soul
Where all the world is not quite awake
Still at the edge
And there is time and time
To think about the story
Pushing through the years
We grow old like it's a racе
We don't know when to stop and enjoy
But whеn it really is good
It's too fleeting
You can never catch it
Love is ice melting in hot July
You turn away too long, and it's already gone
So you're left to hold on
To the little pieces in your mind
Paint a picture, hope it lasts a while
I'm still searching for life and loving
The good ol' days again
Where the river runs deep
And the garden grows tall
Where she loves me slow and strong
In tall grass, her hair long
And I don't think twice about it all
So, look here at what this life of mine was like
In those trying years
Those mountains tall to climb
And I had so much to be
And I tried to be it all
But in the end
I found I'm happiest just being me
With a little love
Somewhere in between
